Visit an alternative health clinic if you are interested in exploring options that do not fall within the realm of conventional medicine. This alternative health approach to healing is more metaphysical and spiritual, and goes along with the belief that the body is capable of healing itself, and this medicine is just part of the healing process.

Aromatherapy, which dates about 80 years back, is a popular form. This is to apply or inhale essential plant oils. This technique is said to be a growing industry. It brings to mind the scented oils and candles, but modern aromatherapy includes more than those relaxing accessories.

Another alternative health care option the clinic might suggest is the use of herbal supplements as a healing power. Herbs commonly used include aloe vera, chamomile, belladonna, ginkgo biloba, and valerian. Aloe vera can help with burns, such as sunburn and other irritations to the skin. Chamomile is said to be relaxing and can relief ailments such as indigestion and heartburn. Many products are available, as there are A-Z medicine cabinets that are ways of healing that differ from the conventional way.

Some other techniques an alternative health clinic might suggest include deep breathing, magnet therapy, meditation and spirituality. The medicine has gotten both advocacy and skepticism, so talk to a professional and research the product or method in question thoroughly before making the decision. So which option is better, these alternative health style methods or conventional, scientific prices? It all depends on what you want for your body.

New Orleans area residents without health insurance will have access Saturday to a massive free health clinic that organizers say will boast at least 400 medical professionals and support workers with resources to serve at least 2,000 patients.

The event, which will take up 166,000 square feet at Ernest M. Morial Convention Center, is the second nationally this year in a series of health fairs sponsored by the Louisiana Free Clinic Association and the National Association of Free Clinics, a not-for-profit based in Washington, D.C.

Doors are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 2,000 appointment slots available, plus the ability to take some walk-ups. No one will be charged. Uninsured or underinsured individuals can make appointments by calling 877.233.5159.

Dr. Rani Whitfield, a Baton Rouge physician acting as medical director for the clinic, said he also wants more medical professionals — from specialist physicians to emergency medical technicians and medical administrators — to help staff the event. The staff will offer general medical exams and limited lab tests and will give all patients information about where they can get follow-up care. As of Tuesday evening, immunizations were not part of the plans, though organizers said they would accept any contributed vaccine supplies.

Nicole Lamoureux, executive director of the national clinics organization, said, “We want to underscore what goes on every day at 1,200 free clinics around the country.” But, she said, “Free clinics are just a Band-Aid on a much larger problem” of access.

That network of facilities served about 4 million people in 2008, Lamoureux said. The economic downturn will push the total above 8 million this year, she said.

National research suggests that as many as 70 percent of the clientele at free clinics come from homes where at least one adult works full-time. Whitfield said Louisiana clinics have similar numbers. “Uninsured does not necessarily mean unemployed,” he said.

More than a fifth of Louisianians — nearly all of them adults, given the success of government programs covering children — have no insurance.

The series of mass clinics are designed to make uninsured patients aware of what services are available and to call attention to the difficulty that many Americans have in accessing quality care. In Houston, the one-day event drew almost 2,000 people. Future stops include Little Rock, Ark., and Kansas City, Mo.

Women’s health is a delicate matter that is in constant change from the time you are born. Every single stage in a woman’s life is faced with different changes, not to mention the menstrual cycle that starts as soon as you reach your teens. Women are faced with questions about their health everyday, and to answer them you need to have the right women’s health clinic.

Prevention
Understand your body as it is unique. There might be many general rules and regulations applied to women’s health. However, remember that your body is unique and that there can be instances where you will react totally different than what the general rule predicted.

In order to know your body well you need to have regular check ups in a women’s health clinic where your doctor will draw a chart with your family history and present physical state. All this information will help you address the issues your body is facing at any given time accurately, and thus pinpoint a health hazard situation even before it occurs.

One of the most frequent issue women face is hormonal imbalance, which occurs every month before, during and sometimes after your period. The symptoms are mood swings, irritability, loss of appetite or increased appetite, and sometimes insomnia.

Most of us women and men are aware of these symptoms as you must have seen them in one of your relatives at one point or the other. However, if you do understand them you may be able to deal with them differently. Women’s health clinics provide assistance with these symptoms and other hormonal imbalances that women face during a life span such as during pregnancy and menopause.

Locate A Women’s Health Clinic Near You
It is essential for the good health of your body and mind to try and locate a women’s health clinic close to you and try to access the same. The advantage of attending a women’s health clinic over a general clinic is that they deal with specific female issues and try to resolve them.

Women face many traumas during a life span from the health point of view and it can easily take a toll on their other capabilities. For example, pregnancy and menopause can cause severe depressions that inevitably will interfere with your other areas of life such as professional and personal.

To handle women’s health efficiently, and before it can cause severe damage, locate a women’s health clinic that is suitable to you and try to engage in regular visits. You will soon see a great improvement in your physical and mental health by just gathering the required knowledge. When you also have answers to the situations you are faced with you will once again feel in control of your life.
